Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s 2015 wedding had serious red flags that many close to them noticed. Their Los Angeles civil ceremony was rushed, followed by a big celebration on Depp’s private Bahamas island.
Even before the big day, their friends and family warned Depp about the troubled relationship.
One of Depp’s assistants shared that Depp once joked he was scared to wake up at night and see Amber with a knife, thinking she might attack him. But later, Depp admitted it had really happened around 2 AM, and there was blood in his hair.
Bruce Witkin, Depp’s composer friend, and their chef Russell recalled the wedding was drug-fueled, saying guests took MDMA, and some even looked like zombies. They also described chaotic moments with food and event planning.
During the beach ceremony, Depp’s mother reportedly said out loud, “She doesn’t love him,” but the couple continued with the wedding anyway.
Chef Russell mentioned the event followed a schedule of “Dinner, dancing, and drugs,” and much of the buffet went to waste since guests were either too hungover or too high.
This turbulent celebration turned out to be prophetic, as just 15 months later, Heard filed for divorce, accusing Depp of domestic violence. That led to one of the most public legal battles in recent Hollywood history. The defamation trial eventually ended with Depp being awarded $10 million in damages.
