Benny Blanco recently shared a surprising story about how grumpy Selena Gomez almost didn’t show up on the day he planned to propose!
The music producer and the Lose You to Love Me singer announced their engagement last December after dating for over a year.
During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy asked Selena if she had any idea that Benny was planning to propose.
“We had a lot of promo work for the album. That morning, I woke up confused about where we were going because it seemed far away. I was tired and grumpy and told Benny, ‘After this shoot, I’ll just hang out with my friends.’”
Benny admitted that Selena almost canceled their plans that day.
“She said, ‘I don’t feel well. Maybe I’ll stay home. Can’t we do the shoot another day?’ And I was thinking, ‘Uhh…’ Trying to figure out a way to go ahead with my plan.”
He also revealed how nerve-wracking it was to keep the six-carat marquise diamond ring a secret.
“I hid it in a bag that I thought no one would check. It was the scariest week of my life.”
When asked about their wedding plans, Selena explained that they are currently focused on promoting their new album, I Said I Love You First, which is set to release on Friday.
“We’re not planning the wedding right now, but we want to make sure the music is great first.”
