Marije is an independent Dutch recording artist based in Switzerland who debuted in 2016 with a radio-ready mainstream pop sound. Marije has been singing passionately since she was 4 years old and gave her first concert at the age of 6. She wrote her first song at the age of 8 and placed in the top 10 of the RTL 2 TV format “Kay One – Sängerin gesucht” in 2016. Due to sexual harassment, she prematurely and extraordinarily terminated her record contract with the US label “XCX Artists”. Since 2020, Marije has been performing under her real name again and has released a number of singles, including “Toxic Love,” which is still being played on various radio stations today. Since December 2023, there has been a rebranding, with the singer fully embracing rock and metal music. Marije independently writes the lyrics for her songs and currently works with the Indonesian rock producer Pebri Stimulus.
On her latest single, ”Phantom,” the eclectic singer-songwriter continues her rock & roll evolution, which began with her popular single “2023,” which was released last December. ”Phantom” opens on a wall of guitars landing on a high-octane, early-2000s inspired alternative rock groove. On the mic Marije sings of the mixed signals she is receiving from the woman she loves.
