The Broadway musical Death Becomes Her is set to close its doors after a successful 20-month run in New York City. The show, which earned an impressive 10 Tony Award nominations, currently features original cast member Jennifer Simard as Helen Sharp and Betsy Wolfe as Madeline Ashton. Madeline Ashton is known for being the most beautiful actress, while Helen Sharp is a long-suffering author living in her shadow.

Their complicated friendship takes a dramatic turn when Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé. As Helen plots revenge, their lives are turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious woman with a secret. After taking Viola’s magical potion, Madeline and Helen start a new life with their youth and beauty restored, but with a lasting grudge. Death Becomes Her, based on the beloved movie of the same name, will close on June 28, 2026, and will have welcomed over 900,000 guests by the end of its run.

A national tour is set to begin in September 2026, with over 30 cities scheduled to host the show through September 2027. Lowe Cunningham, SVP, Head of Creative & Strategy, Universal Theatrical Group, expressed the producers’ joy and pride in bringing Death Becomes Her to Broadway, stating that the show has brought people together to laugh and celebrate its wildly entertaining spirit. The producers are excited for the show’s continued life as it tours across the U.S. and beyond.
