American filmmaker and screenwriter David Lynch has passed away at the age of 78. Known for iconic works like Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and the groundbreaking TV series Twin Peaks, Lynch left an indelible mark on cinema and television with his unique, dark, and surreal style.

In 2024, Lynch revealed he had been diagnosed with lung emphysema, attributed to years of smoking, and announced he would no longer continue filmmaking. His family confirmed his passing, stating, “The world feels emptier without him. But as he would always say, ‘Focus on the donut, not the hole.’”

A four-time Oscar nominee, Lynch was awarded an Honorary Oscar in 2020 for his extraordinary contribution to the art of filmmaking.
