Aaron Rodgers retirement plans were outlined in a preview of his SiriusXM interview slated for September 8, where the 42‑year‑old quarterback said he wants to spend his post‑NFL years supporting a pregnant wife and stepping away from public appearances.

He told host Adam Schein, “I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” indicating a desire for a quieter life after 22 seasons in the pros.

The athlete clarified that his wife Brittani is not currently pregnant but hopes she will be by next year, adding, “I’m hoping that I have a pregnant wife by next [year] this time,” as he looks ahead to fatherhood.

He also said he’s enjoying his role as “Uncle Aaron” to his brother’s children, noting, “I have a few godkids that I’m involved with, but being Uncle Aaron to my brother’s kids has been a lot of fun. The more I’m around them, the more I get excited and so does the wife about having some of our own.”

While his spouse helped persuade him to return for one more season, he admitted he can’t wait for the next chapter, stating, “I can’t wait for that next chapter of life… sleepless nights and crying babies and changing diapers and all those things. I’m looking forward to all of it.”

After a career spanning 22 professional seasons and three in college, the former MVP said he plans to focus on healing his body and building a family once he hangs up his cleats.
