Joe Jonas has initiated divorce proceedings with Sophie Turner after four years of marriage.

Amidst days of speculation hinting at marital troubles, the Jonas Brothers vocalist submitted his request to dissolve his marriage to the Game of Thrones actress in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on Tuesday.

As outlined in the legal document acquired by TODAY.com, Jonas asserted that “the marriage between the parties is irreparably broken.”

The American singer and British actress have two daughters together: a three-year-old named Willa and another girl whose name hasn’t been publicly disclosed since her arrival in July 2022. Nevertheless, in the document, he mentioned her initials as “D.J.”

Within the petition, the 34-year-old mentioned that the children have been residing with him in Miami, where the family lived, as well as other locations across the U.S. during his tour with his brothers. He noted that it “is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties share parental responsibility.”

According to DailyMail.com, Jonas “cordially requests” that he and 27-year-old Turner “establish a parenting plan” and a “timesharing schedule.” He identified their Miami residence as the primary dwelling for the children.

The document also confirmed that the couple had a prenuptial agreement in place before they exchanged vows in Las Vegas in May 2019, followed by a larger ceremony in France the following month.

The pop star also affirmed that he has no intentions of requesting child support from his former spouse, expressing, “Both parties have the means to provide for the minor children, and they should both be obligated to contribute to the children’s financial support.”

The rumors of their separation started circulating on Sunday. Nevertheless, Jonas kept wearing his wedding ring both onstage and on social media, and even shared a photo on Monday prominently displaying his ring, effectively putting to rest the speculation.

Jonas and Turner began their romantic relationship in 2016.
