J. Cole canceled his August 27 concert at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center after a crew member was killed in a highway crash.

The Golden 1 Center announced on Facebook that the show was canceled after the crew member’s death and expressed condolences to the family. Ticket buyers who used Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically, while others can request a refund from their original point of purchase.

A spokesperson for the rapper confirmed to CBS News Sacramento that a semi‑truck hauling stage gear from his August 25 concert in Seattle was involved in the crash. The vehicle overturned roughly 20 miles northwest of Sacramento on southbound I‑5 at about 6 a.m.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. David Barker identified the 66‑year‑old driver as Jarlath Parkinson and said he drifted onto the right shoulder before attempting to re‑enter the lane, causing the truck to roll over. The sole occupant was airlifted within 15 minutes, but authorities said the cause remains under investigation, citing possible distraction or fatigue.

The Grammy‑winning artist began The Fall‑Off Tour in July and plans to conclude the U.S. leg on September 23 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After that he will travel overseas for a string of shows, culminating with a final performance on December 12 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

His next stop is the Oakland Arena on August 29, where he is slated to resume the tour.
