First songs sung in kindergarten, fifteen years of silence, and finally a childhood dream come true: a recording studio of her own. The story of Ukrainian singer-songwriter DARMARI is a story of returning to music.
Born Marina, the artist now lives in Georgia. There she develops her own music project and runs Angel’s Flow, the creative space she founded.
Dnipro: A Childhood Full of Music
Marina was born in Dnipro. Her love of music began in kindergarten: from then on, she loved singing, performing on stage and creating her own songs.
She later studied piano and guitar at music school and performed at local and international festivals. Those stage experiences taught her to see music not just as a personal pastime, but as an art to share with others.
For her, creativity was never an interest picked up later in life. It was always a natural part of who she is, and over time it became the most honest way to express her feelings.
What Does “DARMARI” Mean?
The stage name DARMARI combines elements of the artist’s first name and surname. Marina calls it a personal code: the name keeps a link to who she is, while giving her the freedom to express herself as an artist.
Georgia: A New Beginning After Fifteen Years
Marina moved to Georgia four years ago, and the country opened a new chapter in both her personal and creative life. Her roots remain in Ukraine, but today’s DARMARI took shape here.
As a child, she loved both music and dance. At some point she had to choose, and she chose music. Years later, she decided to bring the two passions back together. That is how Angel’s Flow was born: a project that combines a professional recording studio, dance, movement practices and meditation in one space.
DARMARI describes Angel’s Flow as a place where people can express themselves freely through movement and music and reconnect with their inner world. For her, it is also where she found her own voice again after a break of roughly fifteen years.
“PARI”: The Song of a Dream
The song “PARI”, created at Angel’s Flow became a symbol of this new chapter. Inspired by the artist’s personal feelings and experiences, it marks an important step in her return to music. Opening her own professional recording studio fulfilled DARMARI’s childhood dream and gave her a space to bring songs like “PARI” to life.
How a Song Is Born
For DARMARI, every song starts with a feeling: a new emotion or something she has lived through. That feeling gradually turns into words, then into melody. She tries to preserve the first emotion in every song, believing that a work’s sincerity and its effect on the listener come from that very feeling.
She doesn’t name any particular artist as a role model. What matters more to her is how well melody and lyrics complement each other: those are the songs she wants to hear again and again. In future collaborations, she hopes to work with artists who share this approach.
Beyond Music
For about ten years, Marina has been investing in real estate in various countries. Today, however, her main focus is Angel’s Flow, which she sees as her most personal work: it brings together her business experience and a love of creativity that goes back to childhood.
Travel holds a special place in her life. She has seen many countries, from Singapore and Indonesia to the Maldives, and from Spain to the United Arab Emirates. She hasn’t been to Azerbaijan yet, but it is among the places she hopes to explore.
To Anti Radio Listeners
DARMARI is currently working on reaching new listeners and growing Angel’s Flow. She hopes both projects will develop while staying true to the ideas they started with.
The artist says all of her songs are born from personal feelings, and each carries a special meaning. She hopes listeners will find a piece of their own lives in them, and sometimes hear the feelings they find hard to put into words. For her, the greatest reward is when her songs touch people.
DARMARI thanks the Anti Radio team for the opportunity to share her story. Thank you, DARMARI, for the heartfelt conversation and for sharing your story with us. We wish you every success with your new songs and hope to welcome you to Baku one day.
