In a recent interview with Allure, Saweetie, whose real name is Diamonté Harper, explained why she has yet to release her debut album.
She expressed feeling that her music wasn’t receiving the attention it deserved and emphasized the importance of music being sacred and coming from the spirit, which she believes cannot be rushed.
Despite initially planning to release her debut album titled “Pretty B**ch Music,” Saweetie has continuously delayed its release since 2021 due to feeling it wasn’t ready. She revealed feeling constantly scrutinized and criticized in the past when releasing music, which contributed to her insecurity as an artist.
Saweetie also acknowledged being critical of her own music and how her artistic direction evolves over time.
Despite not releasing a full-length album yet, she gained recognition with her debut EP “High Maintenance” in March 2018.
