What Happened During the Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal?

Coldplay kiss cam scandal
quickly became one of the most talked-about moments online after a video from the band’s Boston concert went viral. The short clip, which showed a couple’s awkward reaction on the stadium’s big screen, triggered rumors of an affair involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and a woman thought to be from his company.

On platform X, Astronomer issued an official statement, stressing that they are launching an internal investigation and firmly denying that the woman seen with Byron is employee Kristin Cabot.

“Astronomer holds tightly to the values we’ve stood by since day one. We expect our leadership to set high standards of accountability. The Board has already started a formal review, and we’ll share more soon. For clarity, no current employee appears in the video.”

The company also dismissed a so-called apology circulating online, supposedly written by Byron himself. That message—which has now reached over 5.9 million views—was posted by a third-party account. It reads:

“I want to speak on what was meant to be a night of joy and music but turned into a serious personal failure. I’m deeply sorry to my wife, family, and team at Astronomer. This isn’t who I want to be. I ask for time to reflect and take responsibility. It hurts that a private moment became public without my consent.”

Meanwhile, a fake statement attributed to Coldplay also went viral, claiming the band would introduce “camera-free zones” at future shows. This has also been confirmed as false.

The entire scandal started when Byron and the woman—seen embracing and smiling—were caught by the kiss cam at Coldplay’s Boston concert. When they noticed they were on the big screen, their expressions shifted, and they appeared to panic and hide. This reaction is what drove the video’s explosion across platforms.

Since then, Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan, has reportedly changed her last name on social media and is now consulting a divorce attorney, according to various sources.
