Valya Karnaval, a 23-year-old social media star, has recently enrolled at one of the most prestigious universities in Russia — the Financial University under the Government of Russia. Although she only completed nine grades in school, she was accepted into the university without taking any entrance exams. This decision sparked strong criticism, even from some of her own fans.
Many questioned how a public figure like her could easily enter a top university, while regular students go through stressful exams and spend a lot of time and money to earn a degree.
The situation caught the attention of her colleague, MIA BOYKA, who publicly defended her. The popular singer expressed frustration with the online hate and reminded people that students in Russia can transfer from one university to another or take an academic break.
“Why do people think that if a girl is beautiful and very famous, she has no right to get an education or be something more than just her appearance?”
MIA BOYKA also shared her own story, saying she studied at Plekhanov University, majoring in Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship. She revealed that while building her music career, she managed three jobs and still completed her degree. After getting her bachelor’s, she continued to focus on her creative projects.
Earlier, Valya Karnaval had responded to comparisons between her song and hits by Serebro and Instasamka, showing that her work in music continues to draw attention.
