Elvira Yankovskaya returned about two million rubles to Russian influencer Valeria Chekalina after a fraud investigation revealed counterfeit luxury items.

She was arrested on suspicion of large‑scale fraud for posing as a personal stylist and promising to source branded clothing and accessories from abroad at wholesale prices.

During roughly a year and a half, Chekalina purchased premium‑brand pieces through her, believing the discounts were legitimate.

Chekalina grew doubtful, consulted experts and an examination confirmed the goods were fake.

Authorities opened a criminal case under part 4 of article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code, naming seven victims, including the influencer, and noted the repayment was made as part of the probe.

The refund highlights increasing scrutiny of online stylists and the counterfeit market in Russia.
