Roya Mammadova (Hiss) was born on August 11, 1995, in Baku, Azerbaijan. She grew up in a children’s home (SOS Children’s Village) with her siblings from the age of three. She pursued her education in petroleum engineering at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy from 2013 to 2017.
Her journey in music began at the age of 14. She participated in a music competition called “Sən bir nəğməsən” at the age of 15. Her debut song in the professional music scene was “Mirvarilər,” performed in 2018.
Her track “İstəmirəm,” her fifth release, made its way into the top 50 of the Shazam Turkey chart over several months. The music video for the song has garnered over 20 million views on YouTube. In September 2021, Hiss made a special appearance on the Show TV program “Bir Başka Güzel.”
In 2021, her song “Karma” spent an extended period at the top spot on both YouTube and Apple Music trends in Azerbaijan. All of her music has been featured on the Anti Radio playlist.
She became the second Azerbaijani artist to sign a contract with Warner Music Group, the largest music company in the United States, following in the footsteps of İsfar Sarabski.
On April 28, 2023, she performed at the opening ceremony of the “Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2023.”
On May 17, 2023, she took the stage at the opening ceremony of the 39th European Championships in Artistic Gymnastics, held at the National Gymnastics Arena.
On June 3, 2023, she performed at the closing ceremony of the Azerbaijan Cup held at the Bakcell Arena.
