The reunion trend in ’90s indie rock is suddenly gaining momentum. Today, it was revealed that Velocity Girl and Tuscadero will be sharing the stage at the Black Cat in December, as if we were still in 1994. Additionally, last night, Das Damen, a New York-based band that barely made it into the ’90s, performed their first concert since 1994.
Formed in 1984 in New York City, Das Damen’s members emerged from the hardcore scene. However, their music was a blend of garage-influenced noise-rock, and they released albums under labels such as SST, Twin/Tone, and Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace. Although Das Damen disbanded in 1994, they are set to perform at Dromedary Records’ 30th-anniversary concerts in upstate New York this weekend, sharing the stage with other reunited acts like Madder Rose and Lotion.
Last night, Das Damen held a warm-up gig at WFMU’s Monty Hall in Jersey City. From the available information, their performance appeared strong, and all the band members seem to be in great shape. Take a look below.
