Jamila graduated summa cum laude from George Washington University with a B.A. in International Relations and double minors in History and Sociology. She earned her M.A. in European Administrative and Political Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Golden Key Honor Society, and is UK-certified by the International Etiquette and Protocol Academy of London.

Jamila Musayeva answered Anti Radio’s questions, sharing her journey, her view of etiquette and her daily habits.

The Path to Etiquette

Had she not chosen this path, Jamila believes she would have gone into education, writing or diplomacy. “I have always been interested in human behavior, cultures, and the way people communicate with one another.” Whatever the career, she says, it would have involved learning, sharing knowledge and helping people become better versions of themselves.

Her interest in etiquette grew gradually rather than from a single moment. She was always drawn to the small details that shape our interactions: how we speak and how we make others feel. Over time she realized etiquette was much more than knowing which fork to use. “It was a language of respect, consideration, and self-awareness.”

Early in her career, she met people who saw etiquette as outdated tradition or needless formality. Jamila never tries to win them over with arguments; she shows its value instead. Once people see that etiquette helps them communicate with confidence, build stronger relationships and handle social and professional situations, their view changes. In her words, it is “not about restriction but about freedom and awareness.”

What Etiquette Means Today

According to Jamila, one of the most common mistakes is listening to respond rather than to understand. We are so focused on our own thoughts that we forget to give others our full attention. “Good manners begin with consideration, and sometimes the most elegant thing we can do is simply make another person feel heard.”

Etiquette shapes more than first impressions; it supports long-term success. “First impressions may open doors, but our behavior determines whether those doors remain open.” Talent and knowledge matter, she says, but the way we treat people often determines how far we can go.

Etiquette also evolves with society. Many rules around gender roles have relaxed, and everyday interactions have become less formal. At the same time, the digital world has brought new rules for online communication, social media and respecting people’s privacy.

“Etiquette is not about holding on to outdated rules but about understanding how to treat others with consideration in the world we live in today.”

Personal Growth: Time, Doubt and Habits

Known for her commitment to lifelong learning, Jamila says the most valuable skill she keeps developing is using her time and attention more intentionally. As responsibilities grow, separating what is urgent from what is truly meaningful matters more. “Productivity is not about doing more of everything; it is about directing your energy toward what matters most.”

In moments of self-doubt, she reminds herself that doubt does not mean she is on the wrong path. Sometimes it simply means she is stepping outside her comfort zone. She focuses on what she can control, returns to the work that matters to her and remembers how much she has already learned. “Confidence does not mean never doubting yourself; it means continuing despite those doubts.”

She is most productive when she can start the day without being pulled into other people’s priorities. She uses that quiet time to organize her thoughts, read and plan ahead. The one habit she values most is reading and learning something new every day. “Remaining curious is essential, regardless of how much experience or knowledge we accumulate.”

The Azerbaijani Tea Ceremony

As someone who introduces Azerbaijani culture to an international audience, Jamila is proudest of the country’s tea tradition. “Tea in Azerbaijan is much more than a beverage; it represents hospitality, connection, and the importance of making time for one another.” For her, welcoming someone into your home is not merely about serving them something, but about making them feel that they belong.

She wrote Azerbaijani Tea Ceremony to preserve and share this tradition. “We often take the customs we grow up with for granted, forgetting that they tell the story of who we are and what we value.” The most rewarding feedback comes from international readers who say the book helped them discover Azerbaijan through something as familiar as a cup of tea. Of all her books, it is the one closest to her heart, because it is so deeply tied to her heritage.

Jamila believes Azerbaijan is often seen through a very limited lens, without an understanding of its cultural depth, history and traditions. “We are a country where East meets West, where ancient customs coexist with modern ambitions, and where hospitality is deeply ingrained in everyday life.” She hopes her work helps people see a more nuanced picture of the country.

Books and the Writing Process

Jamila is the author of four books:

• Azerbaijani Tea Ceremony — the history and rituals of Azerbaijani tea culture: the samovar, the armudu glass, and the jams, fruits and nuts served with every cup.
• The Art of Entertaining at Home — the essentials of hosting: choosing gifts, setting a beautiful table, dinner conversation, and how to be a gracious host and guest.
• Afternoon Tea Etiquette — Britain’s famous afternoon tea tradition: its origins, how to take it and what to wear.
• Etiquette: The Least You Need to Know — the core rules everyone needs to make a good first impression.

For Jamila, the hardest part of writing is balancing depth with accessibility. She wants her books to offer real knowledge without overwhelming the reader. “Writing requires not only understanding a subject but also organizing your thoughts, questioning your assumptions, and explaining complex ideas in a way that feels natural and practical.” The process, she says, teaches you as much about yourself as about the subject.

Books and live teaching each have their own strengths. Books let people learn at their own pace, revisit key ideas and reflect privately. Teaching in person creates an immediate human connection: she can read reactions, answer questions and adapt to the people in front of her. “Books provide lasting reference points, while in-person teaching allows for a more personal and interactive experience.”

Languages and Cultures

For Jamila, who speaks six languages, the greatest motivation in learning a new one is the chance to enter a different world. “Language is not simply a collection of words; it reflects how people think, express emotions, understand relationships, and perceive life.” Each new language opens the door to another culture and deeper connections with people. She also loves the moment when something that once seemed impossible becomes familiar.

The most valuable lesson she has drawn from other cultures is that there are many ways to live a meaningful life. Travel teaches you to question your assumptions and see that your own way is not necessarily the only or the best one. “We can learn so much from one another when we approach differences with curiosity rather than judgment.”

Beyond Work

Away from work, Jamila enjoys simple things that help her slow down: reading, spending time with the people she loves, discovering new places and immersing herself in other cultures. She also values moments of solitude. Sometimes, she says, stepping away and simply experiencing life brings the greatest inspiration.

People see the finished work, but they may not realize how much curiosity, discipline and continuous learning go into it. “I do not believe that being an expert means you have all the answers. For me, it means remaining willing to learn, improve, and change your perspective when you discover something new.”

If she could meet her younger self, she would tell her not to be afraid to be seen and not to be afraid to be courageous. Daring to do something different can feel uncomfortable, even frightening, in the moment. “But the reward of taking that risk is so much greater than the comfort of staying small and safe. Do not let the fear of being judged prevent you from becoming everything you are capable of being.”

YouTube and Online Community

Jamila started her YouTube channel to make etiquette accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live or what opportunities they have. Traditionally, etiquette was passed down within families or taught in exclusive settings. YouTube broke those barriers and created a space where anyone could learn. “Seeing how many people around the world have connected with this content has shown me that the desire to learn and improve is universal.”

When choosing topics, she balances her audience’s interests with what she believes matters. She pays attention to the questions people ask, while also considering what will benefit them in the long run. “Sometimes, the most valuable lessons are not necessarily the most obvious or popular ones.” Her goal is content people enjoy watching and take something meaningful from.

Beyond YouTube, Jamila reviews films from an etiquette perspective for her Patreon community, teaches online courses and holds meet-and-greets with followers around the world.

The First Step: Self-Awareness

From a young age, Delin was interested in different creative fields. She wrote poems, worked on painting, and explored music. Over time, she realized that music was the most powerful form of expression for her and started building her own path in this direction.

For Delin, the most important quality of good music is its ability to touch the human soul. She believes that an artist should not only share their voice, but also their emotions with the audience.

The special story behind the name “Delin”

The story behind Delin’s stage name comes from a personal and meaningful moment in her life.

Her real name is Dilbər, and she created the name by combining her own name with the name of her only sister, Nilufər. According to Delin, she used a “mirror method” by choosing letters from both names and creating the form Del + ni = Delin.

Later, she discovered that the word “Delin” means “God’s gift.” She describes this meaning as a special and unexpected coincidence and says that from the very beginning she wanted to be known by this name.

A creative journey that started with her grandfather’s poems

Delin’s love for creativity began during her childhood. From an early age, she was interested in painting, writing poems, fashion design, and music.

Her grandfather had a special influence on the way she sees art. A notebook filled with poems written by her grandfather in Persian became a great source of inspiration for Delin. One day, when she asked him how he wrote those poems, his answer stayed in her memory for years:

Love and God make me write, I do not write by myself.

These words became one of the ideas that shaped Delin’s approach to creativity. For her, art is not only about technique, but also about expressing feelings that come from within.

Delin started writing when she was in the second grade. Although she does not remember her first work, the creative curiosity she had during those years later became the foundation of her musical journey.

The road to music and her family’s support

Delin’s transition into professional music was not easy. At first, her family was not completely ready for this choice. When she secretly created her first song, her mother became her biggest supporter during that period.

Over time, her family’s attitude changed, and today Delin feels their support on the path she has chosen. She says that she is now doing exactly what she wants and does not think about choosing another direction.

For the artist, sincerity is one of the most important things in music. She believes that a career is important, but success built at the cost of emotions has no real meaning.

Delin’s songs: each one comes from real feelings

For Delin, creating a song does not follow a specific formula. Sometimes the lyrics come first and the melody is created later. Other times, a melody appears first and the words are written based on that feeling.

Lyrics have a special place in her creativity. For Delin, the power of a song is not only in the melody, but also in the emotions created by the words.

Every song she writes is inspired by her personal experiences and things she has lived through. According to Delin, “Each one is something I have experienced.”

At the moment, she has more than 50 written songs that have not been released yet. Each of these works has a special meaning for her and represents stories that she will share with listeners in the future.

For Delin, some works are not just songs. They are symbols of certain periods and emotions in life.

She says that if a movie was ever made about her life, she would name it “Əqrəb” (Scorpio). This choice is not random, and that is why you can listen to her song with the same name:

Art, painting, and sources of inspiration

Delin’s creativity is not limited only to music. She also works with oil painting and digital art. She continues these activities not as a profession, but as another way to express herself.

One of her biggest inspirations in art is Michael Jackson. Delin sees him as a great example because of his musical talent, different abilities, and dedication to reaching the highest level in his work.

An artist who wants to create her own path

Delin does not want to replace anyone in Azerbaijani music. Her goal is to create a direction that belongs only to her.

She describes the place she wants to have in Azerbaijani music with these words:

The space that belongs to me. I see a space called me.

Delin says that she does not compete in meaningless competition and believes in her own creativity. She says she will never give up on her art. For her, the most important things are being accepted as she is and protecting her own path.

Future dreams and message to listeners

Delin does not limit the way she wants to be remembered by one specific sentence. In her opinion, people are already writing proud and meaningful words about her today, and she believes she will hear even more beautiful words as her audience grows.

Her advice to young musicians is not to be afraid of following their own path:

Do not be afraid. No matter what you do, people will always find something to criticize. So choose what you love. Life is very short.

Her message to Anti Radio listeners is based on love:

From Astrakhan to the big city

Valeria is originally from Astrakhan. At 17 – she moved to Saint Petersburg completely on her own. For her, moving to such a big city was a chance to see how much bigger and more exciting life could be. Saint Petersburg taught her to set bigger goals and, most importantly, to believe she could actually achieve them. The city changed the way she sees herself, her lifestyle and the future she wants to build.

Valeria is most proud of two things. She moved to a big city alone at 17, and she ran her own business independently at 19.

From fun to inspiration: how the blog was born

Valeria has been taking photos and making videos for Instagram for years. For a long time, though, she did it just for fun, without any particular purpose. About two years ago, she realized how much she enjoys inspiring other girls to dress beautifully, feel feminine and be bright and expressive every day. That was when she started taking her content seriously.

Today in her own words, her blog is simply a reflection of who she is and what she loves. Valeria shares outfits, lifestyle and talking videos, makeup secrets, beauty tips, and small life hacks for feeling more feminine, confident and comfortable in your own skin. She also goes live on TikTok, where she loves talking to her audience and getting to know the people who follow her.

An offer from London

About six months ago, a major dress brand from London approached Valeria about a collaboration. It was an unexpected and exciting moment for her, because it showed her that her content had reached an international audience. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond anyone’s control prevented the delivery, so the collaboration could not go ahead. Even so, being discovered by a London brand was very meaningful and encouraging for Valeria.

Languages as a door to the world

Languages have been one of Valeria’s greatest passions throughout her life. She speaks English and is learning German and Spanish. She studies German at university. She didn’t choose it herself, but she doesn’t believe any language is “useless.” In her view, every language gives you a new way to see the world.

She has been teaching herself Spanish at home for the past few months. She can already understand songs and videos and hold basic conversations. Valeria says her passion comes from life itself. Languages give her the chance to become a better version of herself, discover the world and connect with people from different cultures.

Living in the moment

Valeria believes her greatest strength is her ability to live in the present. She doesn’t like saving things for “someday.” She wears her new clothes right away, dresses up every day, treats herself to little things and lets herself enjoy life as it happens. For her, femininity is about enjoying yourself, expressing who you are and creating a life that genuinely makes you happy.

According to Valeria she is the same person offline as she is online. She doesn’t create a character for her content; she simply shares who she is. In her free time, she loves walking in parks, going to nice places and restaurants, exploring the city and enjoying everyday life. She calls herself a simple person in that sense. Beautiful surroundings, good conversations and making ordinary days feel special are all she needs.

People who see her from the outside often think she is very kind and a little naive. Valeria is a soft and caring person. Still, many people make the mistake of thinking her kindness means they can take advantage of her. She values honesty and loyalty and does not tolerate betrayal or people trying to exploit her kindness.

What does success mean?

For Valeria success means being in the right place in life and being happy. It also means being grateful for what you already have while continuing to grow and achieve more.

Aylin Beherzalova

Early life

Aylin Beherzalova was born in Baku in 1997 and was raised by a family open to foreign culture and diverse worldviews. Her interest in music showed itself in early childhood: the future singer watched the Eurovision Song Contest and sang along with performers from the international stage, which drew her to both music and the English language. It was during the years when she followed famous international stars in concerts, films and music videos that she decided to dedicate her life to music.

There were no professional musicians in the family. Nevertheless, the singer’s mother had also loved music deeply since childhood. Seeing their daughter sing from an early age, her parents believed she would one day perform on major stages. Beherzalova speaks about this with particular affection: “My mother says that her childhood dream will come true through me.”

Music is my joy of living. It wasn’t sparked by some passing enthusiasm — it has always been inside me.

Education

Beherzalova’s professional music education began in childhood. Alongside secondary school, she studied at two music schools at the same time, graduating with honours from Children’s Music School No. 21 named after L. and M. Rostropovich in vocals, and from Children’s Music School No. 22 named after Niyazi in piano.

She received her higher education at the Estrada Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. After a four-year bachelor’s degree, she specialised in estrada, popular music and jazz performance during a two-year master’s programme.

Career

In 2021, the year she completed her master’s degree, the artist took part in Baku Jazz Festival, held from 10 to 18 September. She reached the final of the competition and was awarded a vocal diploma. Her professional stage career began with this success.

After the festival, Beherzalova became the official soloist at the Fairmont Baku hotel, where she worked for two years. She now performs as an independent artist at prestigious venues in Baku and the regions. The venues where she has performed include Baku Marriott Hotel Boulevard and Sapphire City Hotel; the restaurants Zafferano, Monte Napoleone and Shakespeare Baku; as well as regional resorts such as Shamakhi Palace Hotel, Yengice Thermal Resort Hotel, Basqal Resort Hotel, Shabran Resort Hotel and Marxal Resort Hotel, among others.

Artistic style

The singer’s repertoire spans pop, jazz, lounge, estrada and soft rock. She is also interested in performing in hip-hop and rap styles. In her view, music has no genre boundaries: what matters to her is the feeling and quality a song conveys. Although she does not perform it herself, classical music holds a special place among the music she listens to every day.

For Beherzalova, stage performance is a broader concept than vocals alone. She emphasises that she lives the songs she sings and that her main goal is to convey that feeling to the listener. In pop songs especially, dance and stage movement become an inseparable part of this expression.

When it comes to choosing songs, the artist has a principled approach shaped over the years:

As I grew older, I realised that everything we say is reflected in the universe. Songs are a kind of manifesto, too. Whatever we manifest in a song, we attract more of it to ourselves.

For this reason, in both her own work and her concert programmes, she favours optimistic pieces that reflect her dreams. Even when she sings sad songs at guests’ request, she tries to perform only feelings she has once lived through and understood. She stays away from songs that reflect emotions she does not wish to experience.

Performers from the international stage have also influenced her artistic outlook. Jennifer Lopez is the artist the singer regards as her ideal. She sees traits close to her own in Miley Cyrus‘s stage energy, while those around her often compare her style to Dua Lipa‘s. Even so, Beherzalova aims not to imitate anyone, but to create her own stage identity.

“Vaxt Elə Görüşək” (Let’s Make Time to Meet)

This same principle explains why the artist’s first official single was so long in the making: she wanted her debut song to reflect her own feelings and manifesto. Although she received offers from various composers over a long period, none of them felt close to her in terms of music, taste and spirit.

“Vaxt Elə Görüşək” was offered to her at the initiative of the composers themselves, at a time when she was experiencing exactly these feelings. “The song reflected my feelings completely. I said, this is the song I have been waiting for all these years,” the singer recalls of that moment.

The main idea of the song is the value of time and human relationships. According to the artist, the piece is not only about love: “This song is for lovers, friends, colleagues and family members. Some people think there is plenty of time, that they will meet later. But life flows on. If we truly want someone, we must be able to go after them.”

Having always felt her family’s moral support on her artistic path, the singer has overcome financial difficulties on her own. She reflects on her journey this way:

Despite facing many hardships in life, I have managed to rise again with determination. I believe the pain we endure makes us wiser.

In her free time, she enjoys reading books, listening to classical music and doing sports. She considers sport one of the key factors that keep a person vigorous and energetic.

As a child, Lera Kudryavtseva wanted to become a doctor because she admired her mother’s work in a laboratory. Later, she dreamed of becoming a flight attendant before deciding to build a career in the creative field. She studied theater directing at a cultural college in Ust-Kamenogorsk and later graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS), where she studied acting.

She began her career as a backing vocalist and dancer, performing with artists including Svetlana Vladimirskaya, Evgeny Osin, Igor Sarukhanov, and Bogdan Titomir. In 1995, at the age of 24, she started working on television after successfully passing a casting for the show Partiynaya Zona, where Igor Vernik encouraged her to audition.

In 2004, Kudryavtseva made her acting debut in the television series Streets of Broken Lights. She later became a well-known host of major music events, including Song of the Year, the Muz-TV Awards, New Wave, and Jurmala. She also took part in television competitions such as Dancing with the Stars, where she finished second, and Star Ice, where she won first place with her skating partner. Since 2016, she has hosted the NTV program Secret for a Million, where celebrity guests answer personal questions about their lives.

Throughout her television career, Lera Kudryavtseva has hosted many popular programs, including MuzOboz, New Wave, Song of the Year, Club of Ex-Wives, Cultural Exchange, Eat and Lose Weight, Secret for a Million, Stars Aligned, and Superstar, where she also served as a judge.

In her personal life, Kudryavtseva has been married three times. Her first husband was Sergey Lenyuk, the drummer of the band Laskovy May. They married in 1990 and had a son named Zhan before divorcing two years later. In 2004, she married businessman Matvey Morozov, but the marriage ended after three years. From 2008 to 2012, she was in a relationship with singer Sergey Lazarev. In 2013, she married hockey player Igor Makarov, and five years later they welcomed their daughter Maria.

In addition to television, Lera Kudryavtseva has appeared in several films and TV series and has also worked as a voice actress in animated movies. She has taken part in music videos and received official recognition for her work in Russian media. In July 2021, she was awarded a presidential commendation for her contribution to the development of the media and for many years of dedicated work.

Later, between 1995 and 2000, she continued her education at the Tbilisi branch of the German Academy of Modern Arts, Jazz and Show Business, focusing on vocals. During those years, she also started getting recognition. In 1996, she became the winner of the “Crystal Fir Tree” young performers contest in Borjomi, and a year later, she was awarded at the “Crystal Note” international competition in Moscow. She performs songs in Azerbaijani, Russian, Georgian, and English, showing her wide range.

At the end of 1998, Manana moved to Baku, and this is where her singing career truly began. In early 2000, she released her first album, “Sene verdim ureyimi.” Around the same time, she took part in many international competitions. In 1999, she won the Grand Prix at the “Voice of Asia” festival in Alma-Ata and also became the winner of the “Slavyanski Bazaar” festival in Ukraine. Soon after, she was awarded at the “UNIVERSTALENT – 2000” festival in Prague, and in 2000, she received another Grand Prix at the “Golden Voice of Asia” contest in Shanghai. In 2001, she won the “Shire Krug” television music competition in Moscow. Since 2015, she has been a judge on “Ses Azərbaycan,” the local version of The Voice.

Manana has given two solo concerts in Azerbaijan. The first one took place in March 2000 at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, and the second in 2002 at the “Shahriyar” concert hall. She has also performed in several European countries with her concert programs.

In her personal life, she got married in early 2008. Her husband, Georgi Qabalev, is a businessman involved in the hotel business in Georgia, although they mainly live in Baku. They have two children, Elizabet and David, who have been living in Georgia since last year.

Manana has shared that her children go to school there. Her daughter Elizabet is older, and her son David is younger. Even though she lives in Baku, they see each other often, either when the children come to Baku or when she travels to Georgia. Both of them are involved in music, though she sees it more as a way to expand their worldview. If they have talent, she believes they should understand music deeply. Her son, who is 9 years old, is also active in sports and does very well at school. Her daughter, who is 15, is also an excellent student and speaks English. She has many achievements and dreams of becoming a diplomat. At the same time, she sings and dances, and sees herself in many fields except medicine — from economics and management to law and diplomacy. As parents, they do not rush her choice, focusing instead on her being hardworking and successful. Both children often say they want to live in a way that makes their parents proud.

She has been living in Azerbaijan for 28 years now. Before coming, she didn’t know much about the country. The only singer she knew was Zeyneb Khanlarova, whose songs her father and grandfather used to listen to at home. As a child, she would hum those songs and dreamed of becoming a singer.

She first became known through the “Kinoklub” program. The show’s host, Etibar Babayev, noticed her voice and invited her to take part. At that time, she was around 16–17 years old and did not understand the Azerbaijani language at all. During the program, she would clap when others clapped and laugh when they laughed.
